What we do

Inspiration Centre Church is located in the heart of Mathare slum in Nairobi. Every Sunday, young and old gather together underneath a tent to worship and pray. We have managed to blend the young ones and the adults into one congregation of more than 200 people. Our teachings are based on Matthew 2:6 “not least among them”.We believe that everyone from male to female, young to old, rich and poor have a verse to contribute in this world. We conduct our church service every Sunday starting from 10 am to 1 pm.  Our services are divided into two; Children’s Sunday school and Family service. Our teachings are simplified to relate to all and the challenges facing our community.

The school sponsorship program provides full and partial scholarships to students who are part of the Inspiration Centre family. Thanks to sponsors in Kenya and abroad, about 30 students have the opportunity to pursue their primary or secondary education each year. Those who have graduated have pursued a college education or began work with Inspiration Centre’s projects. Students in the program are required to maintain improving grades and volunteer with Inspiration Centre during school breaks.

Selling Kerosene in Huruma

This business is in Huruma estate next to Mathare slum and has been in operation for the past two years. Profit earned from the business is used towards offsetting school fees for students in our program. Many households in Huruma and Mathare use kerosene to cook and light their homes.

CentreIt has been one year since we purchased a barbershop in the city centre of Nairobi. This business has provided employment to two young men and it’s generating a revenue to Inspiration Centre.

Feeding our community

Every Sunday after church, Inspiration Centre feeds more than 200 people. More than 70% of this number are children under the age of 14 years. The meals are prepared by our local volunteers who ensure that the meals are well balanced and nutritious.  This program has been very successful and significant to many children who are only fed one meal in a day.

Every Saturday, kids flock to Inspiration Centre to learn craft, painting, drawing, taking pictures, videos, dance, poetry and music. This program has helped many kids discover their hidden talents and new skills. At the end of every year, Inspiration Centre takes more than 100 kids to an Art Camp outside Mathare for one week.
